The Flaky Post

I left my socks in progress, the needles I'd need to start a baby sweater, and the magazine that Short Rows appears in at the office. So instead I started the cube bead iPod case. I'm taking Kate's warning of breaking beads to heart, but as it'll go over the little protective sleeve that came with and mostly be used to deter all the books, magazines, hairbrushes, sneakers, etc. that I throw in my bookbag from squashing, I'll take my chances.

While driving home yesterday I almost went off the road a couple of times because I was enthralled by this double rainbow off to the East. I have seen more rainbows in 10 months in Colorado than in the previous 28 years. Unfortunately I never have a a camera to document them, and I'm always driving when I see them. And it's apparently hot air balloon season, because I've seen at least 2 every morning for weeks. Appropriate, as the very first time I visited Colorado I was amazed by the "hotterbooms." (I was 5.) So, to recap, things I've seen on my commute, in decreasing order of frequency... Cows, horses, alpacas (every day); herds of elk, deer; egrets or herons (don't think they were pelicans...), small falcons. rainbows, hot air balloons (several times); a fox (once). I get a kick out of talking on the phone and saying, "Oh, I'm passing by the elk now..." or "The alpacas are close to the road today!" (I did not, however, see the drunk bear captured at a nearby elementary school, or the treed bear, or the very hungry cougar who was trapped and sent to an animal sanctuary.)

3 more working days till Taos!!

That's a terrific list of things you see driving to work. I see sheep (everyday) and turkey and deer sometimes. Once the leaves are off a particular tree I'll see a red tailed hawk most every day, too.

depending on the route i take i see trees, and sometimes some very pretty houses. but more often than note, it's the bumper of the car in front of me that i see mostly.

ooh! i LOVE Taos (have you ever been to Ojo Caliente outside of Santa Fe? awesome rustic & reasonable spa)! hope you'll take pictures there.

you might sew a little complimentary-color felt liner to put inside the pretty bead ipod holder?

your commute safari sounds so cool-i didn't realise there as a ballooning season-- neat!

I remember seeing a double rainbow while I was out this summer. That's the first time I'd ever seen one, they're beautiful!

Wow, you go all over the place lately :)

You should be a personal yarn buying assistant on the side ;)
