Short but satisfying.

I don't know why I always laze in bed on weekend mornings, then wish for those extra hours back on Sunday nights...

This weekend I tried a new tactic: instead of planning to work all weekend and being disappointed when I didn't accomplish as much as hoped, I squeezed in a couple of hours of working every day and made sure I was having fun the rest of the time. After weekends of crappy weather, this weekend we finally had enough clear skies to sneak in a damp hike yesterday and a cool bike ride today. (First ride of the season... Felt good, though I'm expecting saddle-soreness!)

Now off to spin a little, watch some TV, and have one last beer. Happy Monday everyone! (Tomorrow I"ll be 32.)

This is just nuts.

I love to brag about Colorado weather--how we have 300 days of sunshine a year, etc.

Last weekend it rained all weekend. Starting now, we have a winter storm warning in effect--up to two feet of snow is expected by Saturday midday. Chicago currently has better weather than we do.

On the bright side, a good weekend to curl up with kittens.

I know, this is getting to be "Cats R Us."

I need to buckle down to work this weekend. The cats are taking this very seriously and keeping me pinned down.

Srsly. I can't move.

Might as well stay in & work... Snow is in the forecast for the 4th time in 9 days. This is kinda ridonculus.

Hooray for mail...

Sometimes I think it's a good thing when fiber takes a while to arrive--I like the anticipation!

I like the opening, too. This is from Southern Cross Fibre, a seller located in Australia that I met at Rhinebeck last year. I had to wake up on a Sunday morning to buy this stuff--it was all gone within 30 minutes of listing. And even from Australia it only took a week.

IMG_0488 Orville approved too.

(Can't get the damn camera program to save the photo in a portrait orientation... Grr!)

The fibers are Polwarth, Polwarth, and... Polwarth.

Doing my part to stimulate the international economy. (Don't worry, I ordered some fiber from the US too.)

Winter weather!

Colorado is weird.

We had crocuses and daffodils months ago, but yesterday morning I woke up to this:

It wasn't a total surprise, seeing as it snowed all day Thursday and there were blizzard warnings everywhere.

Let's see, what else have I been up to...

(Off to go skiing or snowshoeing before it all melts)

Stranger than fiction...

How'd I miss that Al Franken was certified the winner of the Senate race from Minnesota this week??

I wish I'd been a fly on the wall at Fox News when that report came in. Hee hee!

Welcome 2009

I am still abed over 12 hours into the new year, but I'll remedy that soon. (I have a friend coming to hike with me.)

I have some plans & goals for the new year—craft more, worry less, exercise more, spend less—but only 4 real resolutions. With only 4, maybe I'll have a better shot at accomplishing them.

1. Go to bed at 11 every night and get up at 7:30 every morning.
This will be hard for me, but I'm finally getting to be convinced that it will help me be less tired every day and will make it easier to get to work on time.

2. Blog more consistently.
When I blog more, I find more to blog about. And it's a good practice to write more frequenty.

3. Spend more time with friends (and phone counts).
I love my work, but this year it completely took over my life. I will make an effort to socialize.

4. Practice not eating when I'm not hungry.
This one is hard because food is so comforting for me, but eating too much has a lot of costs. There are lots of steps, but this seems like a good one to start with.

OK, gotta get up now. Happy New Year. Here, have a kitty.

Up working and waiting for the promised Wollmeise update. Judging by the recent slowdown on the site, I have company.

For real company, 2 noisy kitties.

(update, 1:42 am) I had a shopping cart full. When I went to pay, there were 3 things. When I asked for paypal, there was nothing.

Taking a deep breath...
